Curriculum and Regulations
The regulations define the basic structure of the Bachelor programme for all subjects offered by the Faculty of Science. For students, they are important inasmuch as they are the legal basis for the curriculum that defines the actual structure of the computer science degree programme.
Whereas the regulations define the prerequisites of undergraduate studies for all degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Science, the curriculum defines specifically how the computer science programme at the University of Fribourg is structured. For students, the curriculum, as it is summarised on this page, contains all information about the structure and content of the degree programme.
Computer science can be studied as a major with 120 ECTS credits or as a minor with 60 ECTS or with 30 ECTS credits. The major in computer science must be complemented by either a minor of 60 ECTS credits or by two minors of 30 ECTS credits each. The curriculum for the major in computer science is summarised in the following table:
Bold: mandatory courses for the Computer Science minor
The compulsory courses in the minor in computer science are highlighted in boldface in the table (comprising 20 ECTS credits), and must be complemented by optional courses to acquire the necessary ECTS credits. Optional courses can be chosen freely among all non-compulsory courses in the Bachelor programme. A brief description of all courses in the table can be found on the Courses Offered page.
The regulations and curricula (computer science as a major or as a minor) can be found on the corresponding pages of the Faculty of Science website.
