Why is there a need for informatics?

These days informatics is omnipresent. Companies or households that do not possess a computer or equipment managed by digital technology are rare. Children, adolescents and adults in this country are confronted nearly every day by information technology. Few, however, really know what informatics means as a university discipline.

 

What is a informatician?

An informatician carries out a job in informatics within the framework of research, conception of systems, production, management or maintenance. This activity may range from the domains of hardware to those of software.

 

Qu'est-ce qu'un informaticien de gestion/ une informaticienne de gestion?

Le domaine d'activité d'un informaticien de gestion se situe entre le domaine informatique et le domaine économique. Il possède des compétences dans la gestion (comptabilité, finances, ressources humaines,...), la programmation et la conception des logiciels. Ses compétences techniques ne seront pas aussi approfondies que celles d'un informaticien, mais sa base sera tout de même solide.  

 

What is the difference between informatics and business informatics?

It is a discipline that integrates, at the same time, both the technological aspects such as the function of computers and networks and the socio-economic aspects (the management of information in business, administration, the medias, the economic impact and its implications on social level, jurisprudence, etc.).

 

Why should one study informatics or business informatics?

Are there women in informatics or is it essentially a male domain?

It is true that the proportion of women is lower, but that does not mean that women are less competent. By the way the proportion of women is always on the increase.

 

Are all computer scientists geeks?

There are certainly informaticians who are passionate about informatics, or even obsessed with it. The most sought-after informaticians in the job market are those clearly competent in their field but also capable of teamwork, able to communicate and with an open mind.
 
What is a geek? :
