BioSecure: Biometrics for Secure Authentication

EU BioSecure NoE: Biometrics for Secure Authentication

Summary : our group is member of the EU BioSecure NoE

  • BioSecure is a project of the 6th Framework Programme of the European Community (IST-2002-507634).
  • The main objective of this network is to strengthen and to integrate multidisciplinary research efforts in order to investigate biometrics-based identity authentication methods, for the purpose of meeting the trust and security requirements in our progressing digital information society.
  • The main objectives of the BioSecure Network of Excellence are:
    • To strengthen and integrate multidisciplinary research effort in order to investigate biometrics-based identity authentication for the purpose of meeting the trust and security requirements in our progressing digital information society, through effective and dynamic technologies.
    • To disseminate and spread excellence using a number of dedicated tools that will strengthen the impact of scientific dissemination. Such tools include workshops, conferences, advanced research and evaluation institutes and similar events that will be organised by the network. The international collaboration will also be enhanced by facilitating mobility across Europe through visiting researchers, Post-Doc’s and PhD’s.
  • Our group is active in BioSecure mainly in three areas of activities:
    • Speech modality: we are there leading the Joint Research program called RaggA aiming the study of time-dependent fusion approaches.
    • Signature modality: we are active in the modelling of dynamic signatures with statistical tools such as GMMs; we are also active in the area of signature impostures.
    • Multimodal approaches: we are taking part into the organisation of a large scale multimodal biometric data acquisition campaign and to the evaluation of multimodal biometrics systems.

Period : The project has started on June 2004 and is supposed to last 3 years.

Fundings : The project is funded by the 6th Framework Programme of the European Community.
