Mediamatics II - Web Communication & Collaboration Seminar FS-2011

Contacts
About
Dates:
1. February 2011
Description:

This seminar gives an overview of web technologies for media and communication specialists. The idea is to combine communication related questions (e.g. how can companies set up a professional reputation or issues management) with their technological approaches (e.g. how can corporate weblogs be analysed/how can content-based filtering support such issues management). Students will gain insight into web-communication approaches of blogs, issues and crisis management, etc. as well as into the technological aspects standing behind.

The students may choose one of a wide range of topics, which will be presented at the kick-off meeting (such as e.g. corporate or political blogs, fuzzy weblog extraction, (internet) communication in crisis, issues and reputation management, building reputation through online channels, recommender systems, semantic web, social software, web information extraction, wikis or virtual communities).

The seminar is limited to a maximum of 12 students (fist come, first serve), the course language is English.

Instead of an examination at the end of the course, students will have to present the approach and findings of their project question and submit a project report.
